Training and Education
BCA operates under the premise that the costs due to microbial contamination problems can best be minimized when our client’s staff designs and manages their own monitoring and maintenance programs. BCA enables our client’s staff members to succeed by educating them about the nature of microbial contamination and training them how to sample and test industrial process fluids, interpret data and take appropriate corrective measures. Industrial process fluids include fuels, lubricants, metalworking fluids; cooling and oilfield water. BCA Provides the requisite training through seminars and on-site, hands-on training as described below.
Seminars
BCA offers single-topic seminars as 30 – 50 minute sessions; perfect for professional society meetings or corporate-staff training sessions. Multiple topics and task-oriented training can be combined to develop customized training, built in half-day increments, up to a five-day program. BCA will work with you to design the program that best serves your needs.
Examples of our seminars:
The impact of microbial contamination (three seminars: cooling towers, fuels, metalworking fluids)
- Explains cost and technical aspects of problem
- Defines direct and indirect effects of uncontrolled contamination
- Describes common microbes and their activity
- Reviews contamination control measures
Designing microbial contamination control programs
- Describes physical, chemical and microbiological tests contributing to detection and diagnosis
- Explains techniques for selecting parameters to be monitored
- Defines and illustrates echelon testing schemes
- Reviews sampling strategies
- Emphasizes uses of measurement to manage contamination control programs
Microbial contamination control
Defines preventive and corrective measures affecting treatment decisions:
- system design
- house-keeping
- chemical treatment
- health & safety issues
- regulatory issues
Training
BCA provides on-site, hands-on training in the following areas:
- Sample collection
- Field-test procedures
- Problem analysis and identification
- Sample handling
- Control charts
- Corrective action plans
